Telemarketers
- These are the companies involved in phone-based marketing & sales of products or services with either a B2B or B2C prospect base. They gather databases from various resources and carry out mass-scale outbound contact campaigns through either phone, Email, SMS or direct mail to lure the prospect into buying the product or service they or their clients offer.

UCC
- Unsolicited Commercial Communication or UCC is defined as any uninvited call or message informing, soliciting or promoting any commercial transaction in relation to goods, investments or services which a recipient has subscribed for. However, TRAI (Telecom Regulation Authority of India) has laid out exclusions to the definition which can be accessed on TRAI website.

DNC or DND - TRAI had notified the Telecom Unsolicited Commercial Communications Regulations, 2007 under which the subscribers could register their phone numbers in a Do-not-Call (DNC) or Do-Not-Disturb (DND) registry. Further TRAI issued "The Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations 2010". Under this, the subscribers can choose to be "Fully Blocked" (barring UCC calls and SMS) or "Partially Blocked" (barring only UCC calls and choosing to receive selected category Messages).

NDNC Registry -
National Do Not Call or NDNC Registry is a centralized database of all telephone numbers of the subscribers who do not want to receive UCC.
